FAQ

“IS COLLECTION AND DELIVERY OF MY FURNITURE INCLUDED IN YOUR ESTIMATED COSTS”:

In short, no. It is each customers responsibility to transport their furniture to and from the workshop. Local ‘man and van’ services are widely available if you are unable to fit your piece of furniture in your car. I can assist in transport of smaller items locally in certain circumstances but this would need to be discussed ahead of accepting the work.

“DO YOUR ESTIMATED COSTS INCLUDE THE FABRIC THAT I CHOOSE”

No. Fabric prices vary greatly between manufacturers and collections and as such I give a meterage needed per job rather than the total price of fabric per job.

“CAN I USE MY OWN FABRIC”

Ideally, no. There are many rules and regulations when it comes to Upholstery Fabric and as such not all fabrics are suitable. There are a myriad of factors depending on such things as the pieces age and use and I strongly advise against purchasing fabric online or in fabric shops without discussing their specifications with me prior to purchase. If you do purchase fabric without discussion it may result in your fabric not being useable for your project and additional money spent to replace it. I use trusted manufacturers who’s products are fit for purpose and offer fabric books for you to browse from.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY ESTIMATED COST IN MY PROPOSAL"

Your unique “upholstery proposal” includes estimated costs for labour plus estimated supply and sundries costs. I make a note of quantities of supplies like hessian, dacron etc. as I work through a piece and calculate the cost at the end. Any unforeseen labour will be discussed before proceeding and any additional charge explained at the time. Any outsourcing costs (such as foam/cushion inners) will be priced at the time of assessment by my suppliers and I cannot be held responsible if their costs increase.

“HOW LONG DOES MY PERSONALISED UPHOLSTERY PROPOSAL STAND FOR”

3 months. After this time I will need to revisit my costings to check if supply prices have altered.
